There are no longer any lunch service fees on the premium Vande Bharat trains, according to the Ministry of Railways. Commoners benefit from this as expenses continue to rise.
The Railway Board told IRCTC on Monday that there would be no service charge and that prices would include GST. Prices for meals on trains can decrease.
The official announcement further states, “Passengers who do not select the option of dining while reserving their train ticket will not be responsible for the service fee.

Last month, the CCPA (Central Consumer Protection Authority) adopted guidelines to prevent unfair business practices and consumer rights violations. It forbade hotels and restaurants from automatically adding service costs to meal bills. It also allowed customers to register complaints.
PTI said that hotels and restaurants increase meal costs by 10%.
Customers of Indian Railways’ premium trains must make a lunch reservation or pay Rs 50. The new regulation impacts Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Vande Bharat, Tejas, and Duronto Express.
On July 15, the Indian Railway Board announced lunchtime rates.
The board emphasised that meal prices continued to rise. If no tea or coffee is ordered, there is no penalty for the passenger.
How much will travellers spend on ticket purchases but not on food?
According to the Railway Board chart, breakfast on the Rajdhani, Duronto, and Shatabdi Express costs Rs 190 in 1A or EC class. Without a reservation, a meal for lunch or supper costs Rs 290.
For passengers in the 2AC/3A/CC class of the three trains as mentioned above, breakfast costs Rs 155, evening snacks Rs 140, and lunch and supper cost Rs 235.
The price for breakfast at Vande Bharat Express is Rs 205. Dinner reservations are Rs. 155 each. Evening snacks cost Rs. 155. Rs 294. This price is available with GST.
